Myrmecological News is an independent, international non-profit journal devoted to ant research. In a lively mix of research and review articles, all fields of myrmecology are covered. Quality contributions are sought, expected to be of genuine interest to myrmecologists and of enduring relevance to ant research. Taxonomic manuscripts with isolated species descriptions are generally discouraged, especially for genera with large numbers of undescribed species; it lies at the discretion of the editorial team whether such manuscripts are considered. Papers on new distribution records will be considered if the new records are sufficiently important or unexpected from a biogeographical perspective. Such papers could, for example, discuss relevant biological/ecological data and/or biogeographical implications such as analysis by species-distribution modelling. Suitable manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent expert referees prior to acceptance. Turn-around times are brief. In 2014, primary editorial decisions were made, on average, after 24 and 49 days for all manuscripts and for those subjected to in-depth peer evaluation, respectively. Myrmecological News is printed at least once a year. In the online version articles are published online as soon as they are ready.

Rejection rate is 78% (2014 and 2015).
